“We are now able to conduct tests with an accuracy of 100,000 measurement values per second, and thereby continuously improve the parts,” explains Thomas Schmidt, Group Manager for Engineering at Eaton. “The success of this project demonstrates the value of the Eaton Power of One philosophy for our customers. In addition, the investment in this exceptional test stand technology shows that Eaton consistently fulfills the necessary requirements to remain the technological market leader”.
“The simple handling and flexibility of this testing machine is also the result of the close cooperation with Eaton,” elaborates Johannes Montag, from the Design Construction department at Poppe+ Potthoff Maschinenbau in Nordhausen (Germany). “The different material characteristics of the parts to be tested required specialized handling, which is why we developed a new hydraulic aggregate. The components for this, which Eaton delivered, are perfectly harmonized for regulating the test stand. In this way, the test curves for the widest range of applications can be quickly generated.
Pressure or volume can be accurately increased up to 4000 bar, reduced or maintained at a constant level via two pressure regulators. With 120 functional elements, the series of testing steps can be very quickly and flexibly programmed. The pressure is generated via a large pressure booster for fast pre-filling of the system, as well as via a small pressure booster for precise adjustment. The system is designed for pressures up to 4000 bar. As a specialist for high pressure applications, Poppe + Potthoff also offers other performance classes.
